This painting is a meditation on serenity, softness and freedom. Her eyes are closed and she is focused on the world within, a sanctuary of grace where butterflies dance and her wings flutter. She is free and strong and at the same time very soft and feminine.
Painted in luminous pastel colors and soft textures, I loved how this painting turned out dreamy and ethereal. I use charcoal and mark making material in my initial layer and then add luscious oil paint to render the forms.
